Sanjib Bhattacharya is a Manipuri classical dancer, choreographer, and pung percussionist who has practised the Vaishnavite dance of northeast India — the ras lila of Radha and Krishna — for more than four decades. A disciple of Gurus Bipin Singh and Darshana Jhaveri, he has performed in over twenty countries and at festivals including Khajuraho, Konark, and Elephanta, and twice received the President of India's Award, from Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam (2006) and Smt. Pratibha Patil (2011). Beyond the stage he has taught more than 25,000 students and led some seventy community programmes, and directs the Movements in Motion academy in California.
