Part performance, part teaching: Sanjib's lecture-demonstrations open Manipuri dance to audiences who are meeting it for the first time, tracing its Vaishnavite roots, demonstrating lasya and tandava, and inviting questions.

Lectureships, residencies & collaboration

Sanjib has served as a visiting artist, lecturer, and choreographer at universities including UCLA, UC Santa Cruz, San José State, Duquesne, Hunter College, the University of Pittsburgh, and UNC Charlotte.

He welcomes visiting lectureships, artist residencies, and collaborations within South Asian studies and performance research.

Frequently asked

What is Manipuri dance?

One of India's classical dance forms, from the northeastern state of Manipur. It is a Vaishnavite devotional tradition built around the ras lila of Radha and Krishna, danced to the pung — a barrel drum — and joining the grace of lasya with the vigour of tandava.
